Kevin Durant (HOU) is our Player of the Week for Week 15.

A week ago, the Rockets were in mild crisis mode. They'd dropped eight of fourteen games, including a collapse in overtime against Minnesota, and the noise around Houston was getting louder. Voices like Paul Pierce were questioning whether Durant could still be the top option on a contender at 37.

Durant's answer was quiet and surgical. Three home games, three wins, zero drama. He opened with 27 points and 8 assists in a dominant 111-94 dismantling of the Knicks, a game Houston led wire to wire after a 37-point first quarter. Against Milwaukee the next night, he shifted into facilitator mode: 19 points, 9 assists, letting Reed Sheppard and Alperen Sengun carry the scoring load in a 119-113 win that survived a Bucks third-quarter surge. Then he closed the week with 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting in a 140-106 blowout of Utah, his 45th game this season scoring 20+ on 50% shooting or better. Only Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has done it more often.

What stood out wasn't the scoring. It was the playmaking. Durant averaged 7.7 assists this week, well above his 4.7 season average, and Houston's offense responded. The Rockets posted a league-best 130.1 offensive rating over their five-game win streak. Jazz coach Will Hardy summed it up before the Friday blowout: Durant's longevity comes from a genuine love of the game and an unmatched attention to detail.

The Rockets clinched a playoff spot and sit one game behind Denver for fourth in the West. Durant currently ranks #8 in our MVP model, and weeks like this are exactly why he's still in the conversation.
